Detecting Cardiac Activity by Capacitive Electrodes from a Single Point on the Wrist

Published in 2018 40th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2018

A novel capacitive wristband was developed to measure Ballistocardiogram (BCG) signals from wrist. The results of HR and HRV measurements using this new sensor are very close to the results from gold standard ECG measurements.

Continuous Tracking of Changes in Systolic Blood Pressure using BCG and ECG

Published in 2019 41th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2019

A new time interval, namely RJ interval, which is the time difference between R peak of Electrocardiogram (ECG) and J peak of Ballistocardiogram (BCG), was proved can be a surrogate of pulse arrival time (PAT) for cuffless BP estimation.

A Joint Localization Assisted Respiratory Rate Estimation using IR-UWB Radars

Published in 2020 42nd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2020

A system of three IR-UWB radars is developed to measure respiratory rate (RR) for multiple subjects in a room. A Kinect camera that can track subjects’ joints 3D coordinates was employed to localize the subjects. The results of RR monitoring using IR-UWB radars and Kinect camera show great performance in single/multiple subject(s) tracking and RR estimation.

Novel Cuffless Blood Pressure Estimation Method Using a Bayesian Hierarchical Model

Published in 2021 43rd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2021

A hierarchical model was applied to estimate the parameters of a non-linear model which in turn is used to estimate systolic blood pressure using pulse arrival time (PAT) with few calibration measurements. The mean absolute difference between estimated SBP and reference SBP is 4.35 mmHg using the proposed hierarchical model with three calibration measurements and is 4.36 mmHg with a single calibration measurement.

Contactless Measurement of Vital Signs Using Thermal and RGB Cameras: A Study of Covid 19-Related Health Monitoring

Published in Sensors, 2022

A contactless vital signs monitoring system was proposed, which can measure body temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate for people with and without facemasks using a thermal and an RGB camera.
